Acupuncture

Treatment Methods

  • How Does Acupuncture Work?

In the form of the treatment most widely practiced in the Canada, hair-thin needles are inserted into the skin at specific points along the meridians to redirect and unblock stagnant Qi. These so-called ‘acupoints’ correspond to different organs or systems in the body.

Acupuncture also affects activity in the brain region. It controls the basic emotions (such as fear, pleasure, anger) and drives (hunger, sex, dominance, care of offspring).

Researchers began studying and confirmed that acupuncture increases the body’s production of its own natural painkillers, known as endogenous opioids or endorphins.

NIH, WHO and FDA approved the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture treatment, especially for Pain Management, Gastrointestinal Condition, Psychological Condition, Weight Loss and Infertility.

  • Ear Acupuncture (Auriculotherapy)

Ear seeding is used either separately or in conjunction with an acupuncture treatment. These are also taped to the special locations on the ear which communicate to the same region of the body which is in distress.

  • Cupping

Cupping is one of the oldest methods of traditional Chinese medicine. Heated glass cups are applied to the skin along the meridian of the body, creating suction as a way of stimulating the flow of energy. Cupping is used primarily to treat respiratory conditions such as bronchitis, asthma, and congestion; arthritis; gastrointestinal disorders; and certain types of pain. Practitioners also use cupping to treat depression and reduce swelling.

  • Herbal medicine

Herbal medicine (Chinese medicine) is also an important part to improve various acute, chronic medical conditions. It is a natural healing method and can show different benefits from prescription medications.
